Complete Daily Personal Activities and Maintain Independence
Pearl Home Care can assist with and/or supervise personal tasks of daily life to enable an individual to live as autonomously as possible. Individual supports can be provided in a number of different environments, including the participant’s own home.
We understand at times we all require some additional support, assistance or supervision to carry out daily tasks and or complete personal care activities. Our friendly workers are here to discreetly support you. Whether this is providing general assistance to undertake day-to-day activities, or assisting with more complex needs, our qualified workers are here to assist you to develop a support plan, identifying your goals in order to maintain your independence and dignity.
What Personal Care Services Can I Receive via the NDIS?
Daily Personal Activities encompasses a variety of supports. These include:
- Personal hygiene, including showering, bathing, oral hygiene, dressing and grooming
- Toileting, bladder and bowel management and menstrual care
- Eating and drinking
- Attending appointments
- Use of aids and appliances, hearing and communication devices
- Mobility and transferring (e.g. moving in and out of bed, or on and off the toilet)
- Application of splints and basic first aid due to injuries sustained as a result of a participant’s disability
Personal care supports may be required across a variety of settings. For example, a participant living alone in their own home, living with family or other people, when undertaking social, recreational, education or employment activities or during holidays away from home.
Personal care supports are designed to:
- Maximise the independence and functional skills of the participant
- Be appropriate to the participant’s age and circumstances
- Consider whether alternative arrangements or supports could meet a participant’s needs in a less intrusive manner. For example, aids and equipment may enable a participant to complete tasks for themselves or the provision of training may increase the participant’s independence in the tasks.
