Building Capacity to Travel Independently
The NDIS may provide Participants with funding for transport supports which assist in building capacity to travel independently. This may include accessing Pearl Home Care’ own transport services, determining and purchasing which personal transport-related aids and equipment will assist you, or receiving coaching and support to use public transport.
Our supports can be ad hoc (e.g. to attend a social event) or booked to assist you to attend regular medical appointments or to grocery shopping.
Planning Your Journey on Public Transport
When using public transport, Pearl Home Care can assist you to plan your journey, understand how to read timetables and also accompany you on your first few trips.
Accessing Transport Assistance Under the NDIS
If you receive funding for transport assistance, this will appear in your budget under the 0108 code. Your transport supports may include the reasonable and necessary costs of taxis or other private transport options (such as those from Pearl Home Care), as well as transport to and from school for students.
You may also be able to access funding for vehicle modifications that enable you to drive your own private vehicle.
Transport supports only relate to participants and do not relate to travel for families, carers or providers of supports.

Ensuring Your Safety When Travelling
