Nursing Support in Your Home
Some NDIS Participants require assistance from a nurse for their ongoing medical needs, either to directly manage their care, or to assist with increasing their own capacity or that of their family or carer so they can manage these needs over the long term.
Some capacity building nursing supports which the NDIS may fund include:

- Training by a nurse to provide you, a carer, or a support worker to manage things like medication prompting and simple wound care.
- Assessment by a qualified nurse on what services and level support you need (e.g. a continence assessment).
- Advice and education on appropriate safety equipment in the home.
Qualified and Professional Wrap-Around Supports
Nursing care may also be provided to Participants who have complex individual support needs that are best met by someone who has medical training and experience.
Pearl Home Care’s nurses work closely with your support worker/s, GPs, specialists, social services, hospitals and other healthcare staff to provide a service tailored to meet your needs.
Our nurses are registered professionals with a diverse range of skills, knowledge and experience. We ensure current screening checks (NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Checks) and applicable vaccinations for all staff.
How to Access Community Nursing Supports
Nursing Care can be included in the Core or the Capacity Building category of your NDIS supports. Your funding will be outlined in your NDIS Plan.
All NDIS funded nursing services must be related to your disability (that is, they are long-term needs and not short-term/injury related) and assist you to improve your wellbeing. They are usually delivered over a short period of time and stop once your capacity to manage your own care has been built (unless you have more complex needs).
